Here is our little female Shih Tzu, named: Jordan's Imperial Panda Kai-Lan. She is mom to our ShihPoo puppies. She is 7 pounds and is a small Imperial Shih Tzu.

Romeo is the sire to our tiny Shihpoo puppies. He is our 4 pound 8"tall teacup Poodle stud.

Our CKC registered Shih Poos' prices vary from:     $600- on up... depending on size, color, and quality.

Our Shihpoo puppies are very small, because their parents are very small. They are considered teacup and tiny toy sized. Shih Poos are a hybrid designed by the mating of a Poodle and a Shih Tzu dog. Their hair will grow long like a Shih Tzu but will have some wave or curl to it from their Poodle genetics. They tend to be hypoallergenic and non shedding, so make a great pet for someone with allergies that wants a small dog with a long coat. The coat can be trimmed short or let to grow long and flowing to the ground. You should brush your Shih Poo at least twice a week and trim him / her once a month. They are very intelligent and love children. They do not usually bark a lot, but are more laid back and gentle. We believe in hybrid vigor which is achieved by mating two dogs that have diverse back grounds. This introduces new genes to the genetic stew which insures very healthy offspring. So you can rest assure that your puppy will come to you as happy and healthy as can be. All puppies come with shots up to date, dew claws done, registered with CKC hybrid registry, and spoiled rotten by our 5 young children. They are raised by our whole family, and loved from the very day of their birth. They will be use to household sounds such as the vacuum cleaner and children playing. We also start the potty training process, which makes it easier on the new owner as well. We do not cut the Shihpoo puppies' tails. It will be like a Shih Tzu's tail and will curl up and rest on it's back, so there is no need to dock it.

To "ROUGHLY " Estimate a Shih Poo Puppy's Adult Weight, read below:
Female Puppy: 8 Weeks Old Weight x 3 or 4 = Adult Weight, so if the girl weighs 2 lbs at 8 weeks old, she should be around 6 to 8 Lbs fully grown.  Female Shih Poos Size is usually fully grown at around 8 months old.
For Male Puppy: 8 Weeks Old Weight x 3.5 or 4.5 = Adult Weight, so if the boy weighs 2 lbs at 8 weeks old, he should be around 7 to 9 Lbs fully grown.  Male Shih Poos are usually fully grown at
around 10 months old. I have had a puppy measure 1 1/2 pounds at 8 weeks of age and be less than 4 pounds full grown, and another puppy be almost as small at 8 weeks and ended up being 9 pounds full grown,  so keep in mind this is just an educated guess estimate and is not exact by any means. If your Shih Poo puppy is over 8 months old and is still gaining weight, it is  usually because you are feeding it the wrong food, or feeding it to much. This is a hybrid dog and so I can not be 100% accurate when it comes to the adult size and coat texture, because of the genetic diversity, you really never know what you are going to get, but the above weight estimate works 99% of the time. All puppies should be between 4 to 8 pounds full grown, just like their parents. There is however always a chance of genetic throw back which can cause a puppy in a litter to be a larger size than it's parents, due to taking after a ancestor far back in the pedigree, a puppy may get to be over 8 pounds full grown.  This has not happened in any of our past litters but I have to state it as a possibility. I do want you to be 100% happy with your puppy so If you are not happy with the size of your puppy before 12 months old we may be able to exchange it for a different puppy if I agree it is over the size it should have been. I will not exchange a puppy that is found to be obese from over feeding.  I can also let you keep that puppy and give you a discount on your next puppy if you like. I really don't think you have to worry about my size estimate being inaccurate, since I have been right 99% of the time so far on size estimates. Most breeders breed average sized Shih Tzus which are between 9-15 pounds full grown, and average size toy and mini  Poodle that weigh 10 pounds or more and are 10" tall or more. But since we have smaller sized parents and smaller sizes close up in the pedigree our puppies have a better chance of being a healthy smaller sized dog.

Why are these smaller dogs more expensive?

The breeding dogs that we use have cost us a lot of money, since we only use a smaller sized teacup Poodle stud and tiny Shih Tzu dam. Secondly, they are difficult to breed, only have a few puppies in a litter, and they require a lot of extra attention at birth.  Since they are so fragile, often weighing just a few ounces at birth, they require a lot of care and 24-hour attention for the first 2 or 3 weeks, and throughout the weaning process. Thirdly, since the demand is so high for Tiny dogs, with demand far exceeding supply, the price is higher. Lastly, because we only get one or two litters a year since we do not have many dogs, but choose to remain more of a family and not as a comercial kennel that can have tons of puppies from many different dogs. At this time we only have one Shih Tzu dam.

Prices  are general, and we also look at coloring and overall structure when placing a price on a puppy. Prices may also reduce if a puppy is still available at 10 weeks of age. Since a Shih Tzu is of a stockier build than a Poodle a teacup/toy sized Shihpoo puppy may weigh a little more than a teacup Poodle that is the same height. That is why a teacup Shihpoo can get up to 8 pounds full grown, but still be under 10" tall, some Shihpoos however may take after the Poodle breed more and may end up being small framed and be more like a teacup Poodle size full grown.  You can always call me to discuss individual puppies I may have for sale.

*I guarantee the health of your puppy, for the first year of life as long as you follow these directions for the puppy’s proper care:

1.Vet check: Take your new puppy to the veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving it. This is required to keep your health guarantee. Your puppy will come with shots and worming up to date. Puppy must also finish his puppy shot regiment and be on a heartworm preventative or guarantee is null and void.

2. Measure your puppy’s food intake: I will send some food with your puppy that he/she has been eating unless puppy is shipped by airplane. Our designer puppies are fed Purina Puppy Chow Dry Dog Food. Please have this food on hand before you pick up your new puppy. If you would like to change his/her diet please call me first, so I can explain the proper way to switch from one kind of food to another. Measure food intake for the first few weeks to make sure your puppy is eating enough. If your puppy is very tiny you must guard against low blood sugar, (Hypoglycemia).  You can do this by making sure your puppy is eating enough, and also give your puppy a supplement called Nutrical. The dose is 3/4" squeezed out of the tube of Nutrical every mourning and every night. This supplement can be stopped once the puppy has reached it's adult weight.

3. Keep as inside dog until at least 6 months of age: A small body loses heat quickly so at least for the first 6 months my advice would be to keep your puppy indoors if it is cold outside. If your dog is small, around 5 pounds full grown it needs to be kept as an inside dog all it's life.

4. Keep puppy kenneled: At night put your puppy in a confined area or crate so it does not over exert itself or get into trouble. This also helps potty train your puppy.

*GUARANTEE: Your puppy will see the veterinarian within a few days of transfer and will come with a certificate stating he/she is in good health. All of our dogs are of the best quality! I raise them to improve the breed and will not sale, or breed a dog with undesirable traits or medical problems. All guarantees expire when the puppy reaches 12 months of age, so any grievances must be made before this date. In the event your puppy has a life threatening genetic health abnormality I will allow you to keep that puppy and will give you an additional puppy out of a future litter. I do not refund money. All guarantees expire if and when you breed, or have your puppy spayed / neutered, otherwise your puppy is guaranteed for the first year of life. If a puppy must be replaced all shipping charges will be the responsibility of the buyer. In the event of a puppy’s death after transfer, buyer must have a necropsy done by his/her local vet, and findings must be the death was from a genetic abnormality to qualify for a new puppy. I do not guarantee against Hypoglycemia, Coccidiosis, Parasites, or other stress or environmental related conditions  once the puppy has been transferred. I also do not guarantee any cosmetic or easily fixed conditions, such as an over bite, hernia, or undescended testicles. Again All puppies see the vet at least 2 times and if any of the above problems are found the puppy will not be sold. We have never had any instances where a puppy had to be replaced. All our dogs are very healthy and get physicals every 6 months. We have never had a puppy with a genetic defect of any kind. If you would like to extend this guarantee longer or would like to have a copy please let me know.

SHIPPING: We are located in Harrisonville, Missouri. That is less than a hour from Kansas City, Kansas. To ship a puppy within the continental USA is an additional $200 to $250. This includes the required travel crate, and health certificate to fly. International buyers must contact me for shipping quote. I ship puppies that I deem ready for transport at 8 to 12 weeks of age. I trust Continental Airlines with my tiny puppies because they provide a temp. controlled room and watch the puppies the entire time they have them...This is a worry free and safe way to send your puppy. In the event I have to ship a puppy using a different airline, I always check for safe pet handling procedures.
They will have crate training and house breaking started!

If you decide to buy a puppy from us at Jordan Family Kennels it is assumed you have read and agree with guarantee stated above.
